Social Housing
Social homes are provided by housing associations (not-for-profit organisations that own, let, and manage rented housing) or a local council. As a social tenant, you rent your home from the housing association or council, who are your landlord.
Common issues to be found within social housing properties:
Condensation and Mould
The average family will produce around 15l of moisture per day from breathing (respiration), bathing, dishwashing, cooking, and drying clothes. As the temperature falls, condensation rises, creating moisture on windows each morning which will eventually cause mould and damp.
Inadequate Ventilation
Poor ventilation occurs when the systems of controlling airflow inside the property have failed. Indoor air quality is determined by how much fresh air is entering the building and how effective it is at removing contaminated air.
Poor Insulation
Inadequate insulation in a property will often lead to damp and mould formation on walls. The reason for this is that condensation forms on cold surfaces

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV)
PIV is a practical solution to resolve condensation and mould issues. As a result, residential Indoor Air Quality is significantly improved.

Centralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV)
MEV is a central fan system that runs continuously. It is an effective method of removing odours, stale air, and humidity from each wet room of a property. The central unit is typically installed in a loft space or cupboard.

Decentralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation (dMEV)
dMEV fans run continously in each wet room of a property and are designed to remove odours, stale air and humidity. They run in a low (trickle) speed unless boost speeds are activated by either an external switch or humidity.
